Being young and not trained whatsoever, I'd love to learn a "proper" handgun shooting technique. I realize everyone shoots a little bit differently and there is no one set "right" way to do it. Im not into the whole video teaching aids, but I guess I could try one if someone says one is great.

Thanks guys

You want the pistol marksmanship guide put out by the Army marksmanship unit. That is the meat and potatoes book, everything else is desert and side dishes, good for you but the basics and why they are important are in this book.

I am a beginner myself and reading the Gun Digest book of Combat Handgunnery by Massad Ayoob taught me everything I needed to get started with. I now use the techniques I learned from it to help others learn shoot.
