Some co-workers & I are giving a good friend whom is retiring- a Ruger#1 for a retirement gift. We wanted to put an engraved nameplate of some sort on the ButtStock, does anyone have any idea where I could start looking to get this done? Should I just go to one of those Mall shops & have a plate engraved and then get brass tacks and install this myself? I'm pretty good with this stuff, but I dont know where to even begin to look. Thanks-DOGMAN :sniper: :sniper: :sniper:

Yes, second the motion.

If budget doesn't cover a true engraved receiver, then think about not doing the firearm at all, but getting a nice plate on a very nice walnut case.

Trophy places usually do engraving. They charge so much a letter. It isn't that much depending if ya want to get fancy with the graphics. I would ask your trusted gun smith if he knows who to send it to. Here is a link to help avoid some pitfalls in choosing an engraver. http://www.gunshop.com/olin1.htm You can also do a search in your servers search engine, enter "Firearm engraving"about 7000 sites came up on mine.

The thing about ataching an engraved plate, there will be sharp edges to hang on stuff. I would look at getting the receiver etched or engraved.
