I am torn between a new "loaded" M1A1 and a used (they say unfired, and it looks possible), tricked-out M1A1 that appears to be national match. The bolt is tight on the used one. What can I look for on the used one to see if it's good?

I'd love to mount an Elcan scope on the gun. Has anyone done this?

M1A1..isn't that a variation of the Thompson Subgun...do you mean the civvie version of the M14 a.k.a M1A?

The Elcan may be "under kill" for a .30 cal gun...you probably want something with at least 6x if your gonna use the legs that a .308 has...

A plug for a quality gunsmith. [email protected] can build M1A's and AR15's that are absolutely magnificent! For about what you'll pay for a commercial one with cast parts, he'll build you a real quality rifle that you will be proud of. He's done 4 of mine and will do my next ones as well. Quality workmanship and a nice guy!
