I stumbled on to your Forums and there great!

I had an original 180 series (put thousans of round through it with no problems at all) and made the mistake of trading it.

I'm looking at picking up a new/used replacement. From crusing through the posts I see lots of firing pin problem questions.

Have firing pins become a problem? Are there any "Series" in particular to stay away from?

Hi Super T,
Welcome aboard. Well I have broke 2 pins in a couple of months. I have series #195. I am not sure if it a series thing but who knows. On this forum, we have discussed possible causes for the breakage. Military primers, internal problems, rapid fire, large clips, after market pins, hell everything........ In any case, Ruger has it now and I will post when i get it back...

Welcome Supertrunk, It seems like a rash of broken pins lately. I can't remember a post last year for a broken pin. I have a hunch it has to do with the berdan primed ammo. Course its only my hunch. There are some who have only fired berdan primed ammo with no problems. Go figure!
