I stumbled on to your Forums and there great!

I had an original 180 series (put thousans of round through it with no problems at all) and made the mistake of trading it.

I'm looking at picking up a new/used replacement. From crusing through the posts I see lots of firing pin problem questions.

Have firing pins become a problem? Are there any "Series" in particular to stay away from?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi Super T,
Welcome aboard. Well I have broke 2 pins in a couple of months. I have series #195. I am not sure if it a series thing but who knows. On this forum, we have discussed possible causes for the breakage. Military primers, internal problems, rapid fire, large clips, after market pins, hell everything........:) In any case, Ruger has it now and I will post when i get it back...

Welcome Supertrunk, It seems like a rash of broken pins lately. I can't remember a post last year for a broken pin. I have a hunch it has to do with the berdan primed ammo. Course its only my hunch. There are some who have only fired berdan primed ammo with no problems. Go figure!
