Fitting an old factory stock to a new 583 mini.

I thought this would be a drop in affair but it isn't. I had to open up the sides of the stock to get the new action in and now the action wont pull down flush in the rear. There is a noticeable gap between the receiver and the top rear of the stock. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks Dave
