Hi, I just stumbled upon this site and must say it is pretty great.
I am looking at a very nice mini-14 government model, and my main concern really is will the modifications such as newer stocks and tactical gear be able to be applied to this setup? i would like to change the stock to a Tapco or something if i end up getting it, to keep the original one in the great condition that it is in. I dont know any numbers off the gun but am assuming its older because it is a govt model. any help is appreciated, thanks!

You will be fine on the stocks.

Any other gear would be specific to the gear. Most everything that will fit an older Mini-14 or Ranch Rifle will fit the GB model.

Some of the gear that fits the New Model Ranch Rifle will not fit the GB.

Most of the gear that will fit the new ranch model and not fit the old models is optics related. On most older models, the best optics platform is a scout rail and forward optic IMO.
