I have shot a ton of it, and three of my rifles are 1/7. It shoots as accurate as anything that I have ever fired, with the exception of Black Hills Match. I've had great luck with it. I would suggest buying in quantity, while it is still available.

I have to agree. It's nice to shoot. But as mentioned it's going to get harder to get as the dealers runs out. Which means the price will go up when people start selling it on the auction sites.

I've found it pretty easy to get for about the last nine months. I'm still seeing a sizeable quantity for sale in the shows and on ammoman.com (my source). Federal Ammo really hit a lucrative niche in the market when they introduced this stuff. The great part of all, it's extrememly consistant and clean burning stuff. Almost all that I've bought has been lot #6, so my opinion might be prejudiced a little. Like I said earlier, it shoots great through my 1/7 Colts(2) and FN(1) barrels.:ar15:

My favorite gunshop sells it for $169 per box of 1000 rounds. He has no trouble getting it from his supplier lately (he orders 5K to 10K a week). It shoots as well or better than any other M193 military round, though not as well as some premium (much more expensive) .223 commercial rounds. The story on the street is that it is good stuff. Doesn't look as pretty as some others like Winchester Q3131A, because the Lake City factory does not polish the brass.:sniper:

AlliantTechsystems took over the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant from Winchester, and since Bill CLinton made it illegal for us to buy surplus ammo, Federal (ATK) doesn't run the XM193 through military testing and therefore we can have it. Note the X in XM193?
Federal also announced that this will be a regular product, and they are already up to Lot 22 last I heard. I saved my Lot-1 and Lot-3, and have a boatload of Lot-10.
It is hot stuff, and it is up to M193 Mil-Spec, just not tested for it.

There shouldn't be any shortages of this. Israel Military Industrties also supplies out boys with M855M856 over in the Mid East-as this is the primary issue of 5.56mm ammo.
