Hi, Took my mini-14 out saturday to shoot and it would not extract the spent cartridge. Upon close examination of the bolt, there is a big open space where the extractor used to be. I have a cuople of questions. I can order a new extractor from Brownells. Any special trick to install it? I guess I should also order a new extractor spring? Any tips on keeping it from happening again? and last, is this a common problem? Thanks in advance, Ken [email protected]

Welcome to the forum usaken. I've only heard of a broken ejector one other time. Their fix was to send the bolt into ruger. If your extractor is missing you should have a hole in the bottom of your bolt, the extractor plunger, and spring should have went boing somewhere. Any smith should be able to install the parts for ya, I think I could if I had 2 more hands. I'm looking at the bottom end of the extractor. It's hard to tell if its bradded or not. For the least trouble, I'd send it to Ruger.

Any one else had their ejector out?
