I copied this from the Blade Forums political forum.......Blade is one of the most successful and respected forums around.

1/12/21, Effective immediately, there will be a return to civility. In addition to zero tolerance for extremism & threats of violence, y'all gonna start acting right and communicating like adults with civility & manners.

There will be no insults, baseless accusations of being a communist or nazi, being a libtard / trumptard, etc. You will not use ****ty language towards each other or petty nicknames for public figures.

Conduct yourselves like adults. Politics is constrained to this forum for a reason, because it is a flashpoint for anger, outrage & butthurt.
Maybe our forum rules could use a little adjusting and enforcing?

One thing that really resonates with me is the rule against making up petty (and insulting) names for public figures.

Sometimes some of our members are so creative in making up these contrived and insulting adjustments to the names of Pelosi, Trump, Obama, etc. that it's sometimes hard to tell who they're talking about.

Let's just use the correct names for the politicians (and each other, for that matter).

It's simply adult behavior.

how about when the politicians start respecting the US citizen then maybe they earn being called by their proper names...till then all the nasty names for them are far more fitting....Im new here and see cancel culture has hit the forums hard..I guess they are owned by leftists..just like the rest of social media and big tech....

Acting like an adult and calling people by their proper names is just normal behavior.

Spewing childish insults is abnormal behavior.

Use your vote on politicians........silly namecalling will never harm them.

However, namecalling won't fix anything and it will CHANGE only one thing.

It will cause hate and rage to increase........That makes things worse, not better.

Do you see a problem with the Blade Forums rules above.

that is true, but its human nature to lash out when frustrated about certain subjects at certain times.....and to also have people double down on instigating such a response...they are to blame as much as the person blowing off steam...

It is certainly human nature to lash out, that part is true.

But the rest is not. If someone makes you angry it does not mean that they are responsible for YOUR bad behavior........that guilt is upon you.

It's possible to state your case and blow off steam in an adult and normal manner.

That's what the Blade Forum rules are requiring........a "return to civility."

So do you see a problem with the rules of the Blade Forum as posted above in my first post?

They seem to be trying to fix the problem.

no not at all...but if you want a true return to civility..the instigator should get the same punishment or time out as the responder...it takes 2 to tango...and I have seen in other forums, a very one sided approach to discipline...and that has caused more issue than the original post or posts....ill say the conservative side seems to take it on the chin way more than the leftist side does with equally worded posts...im just saying both sides of the coin should be dealt with equally...

That is true.......but it works both ways.

On the more Liberal forums the Conservatives are often banned in a one-sided manner .

On the more Conservative forums the Liberals are often banned in a one-sided manner.

On forums that are more fairly moderated........both sides probably feel like victims.

When people step over the line they have to be cautioned and if they can't behave like adults.......banned.
