After shooting the hand-cannon of mine this weekend, a friend has decided he would like to purchase one. he's looking for a Desert Eagle in 50AE. Would like to have box and paperwork with it. Thanks

Rumor: The Israeli Defense Force designed the .50AE Desert Eagle as a means to stop smaller vehicles laiden with explosives by a shot to the radiator. Does anyone know if this is bunk or reality?:cannon:

Will Beararms,

I think a shotgun would be the best personal weapon to take out a radiator. Of course, the Desert Eagle would also stop the engine with broken metal flying around.

You touched on a good topic for discussion, since I haven't been motivated to buy my own .50cal Desert Eagle. If there were some really good advantages, I want to hear them. Of primary interest are some examples of knockdown power, 100 yard accuracy, and 50 yard accuracy.

I always thought the recoil would be so hard that I couldn't hit anything.

From anyone, any thoughts on managing recoil for accuracy would be appreciated.

I've never shot a vehicle with mine but I'm sure it would go through the radiator like it wasn't even there and well into the block. You're talking about a .508, 325 grain projectile that has a muzzle velocity over 1400 fps. Fully loaded it's a hefty 5.5 pounds, kinda like a groundhog with an attitude.

As far as accuracy, at 50 yards I've put seven rounds in a 12" diameter piece of steel. BTW, I'm 6'4", 255 pounds. And yes it does have some kick but not as bad as you would think. No more than a 44 IMHO.

Here in Indiana we don't have rifle season on any type of critter. But you can carry a handgun during deer season if it's 357 or larger. I've hit two deer with the hand cannon, both were 40-50 yards out. Clean kill and good meat. Remember, it's not a 50BMG. You're not going to pop a deer like a balloon when you hit it.

Anyway, I've found a couple at different sites but the people don't have the box and stuff that comes with the pistol. Doesn't make sense to me not to keep that stuff.
