Would either the remington model 7400 or 7600 with a 18.5" barrel in 30-06 with a 10 round magazine make a good reliable defensive rifle? Thank you.

These are decent guns for hunters. It would depend on how you intend to use them. I don't think either one is intended to be shot a LOT.
