The scope is a Leupold CQ/T 1-3x red dot scope (the actual dot is really amber). The scope is not mounted on the Ultimak Rail because of the eye relief needed (2" max). It does provide quick sighting with both eyes open at 1x, and is enough scope for field work at 3x for most distances you would want to use the Mini at. The sight base is S&K and the adapter for the scope is an ARMS #12 throw lever mount. The Ultimak Rail is there because I think it makes a better fore end cover, and allows me to mount a low profile light or laser in front of / under the scope, and still keep the underside of the rifle clean. I've also been toying with the idea of mounting a flip up iron site from ARMS or Bushmaster on the Ultimak as a back up site, since the Leupold is quick release and the mount replaces the factory rear sites. Other enhancements include an AK style muzzle brake, a BufferTech recoil buffer, a smoothed trigger, and a cheek pad from BlackHawk. The only thing not on it yet is a three point sling, which will be soon.

How many inches does the AK muzzle brake add to the length of a barrel?
How large a hole compared to the bullet caliber does that muzzle brake have?
How it is attached - with pin or pin and set screws? How tight is it by itself?
How do you like it? Did you try other brakes to compare with that one?

The muzzle brake adds 2.40" to the length of the barrel. The diameter of the exit hole is between .300" and .301" (limited precision on the dial caliper). The brake attaches by sliding over the original front site, and replaces the drift pin with a slightly longer one. Then there are two set screws on the underside of the muzzle break which press directly against the original sight sleeve (not against the bare part of the barrel). The fit is quite tight with just a little vertical play before you tighten the set screws. After tightening the set screws it seems very solid. It is toted as the most efficient muzzle break, but I have not yet tried it out. (Hopefully this weekend.) Overall I'm impressed with the quality of workmanship and design, especially for the low price tag. The proof will be what it does for recoil and accuracy. I hope that helps.

·I love it , where to find the flip up sites and how to mount them? Weaver base,millet ,etc. this is what I want along w/a quick detach scope. Keep us informed and thanks

thats some bad ass stuff there. will the Ultimak fit a mini 30? I searched around the web and it's only mentioned for the mini 14.

beckrodgers: The flip up sites I was looking at were either the ARMS, GG&G, or the Bushmaster version of the same. It seems the ARMS style are spring loaded where as the Bushmaster sites are lower profile. I would mount them on the Ultimak rail and since the scope is quick release, drop the scope and flip up the sites for a backup. That is the theory anyway, more as it comes together.
special poop: cajungeo already provided the link. I think the Ultimak rail would look right at home on the "poop slinger". You might like the scout scope setup better with your Aimpoint ML2 redot. The scout scope setup should also allow you to cowitness as well. Let us know how it works out.

Sorry for the long delay... it's been busy.
Here is a group of 5 from a cold barrel at 50 yards using Winchester 55 gr. 5.56mm (Q3131A). Not bad for Nato spec ammo. The muzzle brake is a bit louder, but cuts the recoil down noticeably. After a while there seems to be some gas / burning powder spray back from the brake, so I'm looking into how to eliminate it.

Yep the ck pc works well. I have one on my ole peashooter. Even works with
extra high rings. Davey's scope sits higher than mine. That is a sweet
group. I'm a firm believer in getting as much eye-relief as possible and
I wish scope makers would put some out with up to 5". Mine is maybe 3.5"
Would make it easier to get comfy on the comb. Yep that's a real nice rifle.

Black hawk has several to choose from.
Its easy to add a clickable link to your post. Just go to the site page you want, go to your browser Address , run curssor over address, holding down on the left mouse button, then let go. Click on the Edit button in the browser, click on Copy, then go to your post. Click on it then go to the edit button in your browser, click on paste. Your done. Its fast and easy.
Tip. I always open 2 screens, so I can search whatever, and still save my place in the forum at the ready.
