How long does a mini-14 last? That question was asked in the mini-14 forum, and the thread turned into the question of how many rounds do we think we'll need if the WTT bombing is actually the beginning of WWIII?

There are at least 80 million gun owners in the US. Maybe 1% of those are "sleepers". One round one kill means we have the advantage, even if they manage to slip in a couple more million soldiers.

If any country had the balls to use their military in an outright invasion, they'd have to join forces with other countries as well.

I think the US, as a whole, is covered in both cases.

My theory on security is that it starts with each individual. Eyes that see, ears that hear, and feet to go report what you heard or saw with your mouth.

It's clear that the FBI and the CIA got reports from credible sources before the WTT bombings. Let's hope the bureaucrats get their gold plated rumps into a "code red" attitude soon. Oh yeah, and direct their energy toward the terrorists, instead of playing politically correct games, by not pretending that the profile is not Christian, is not of European heritage, and in most cases is not female.

Here's my thought on how much ammo you need. More than you can comforably hump in a rucksack is going to be a waste. If things deteriorated to the point that large stockpiles of ammo were necessary, you wouldn't be able to sit in one place and survive, you'll have to be on the constant move. Chem strikes and helicopters will quarantee that. I can almost gaurantee that I have less than 400 rounds for every weapon I own.

At that point, you'll have to abandon huge caches of ammo unless you plan to hide it in resupply points. Your going to have to be shooting the caliber your opponents are and try to scavenge/steal ammo from them.

The idea of a foreign army on US soil is rather far fetched, in my humble opinion. Even with a seriously scaled back US Navy, there aren't going to be many boats or planes landing on US soil. I don't think any threatening country could land and maintain troops in the US main land.

How many rounds is enough? Back in the 70's during the nam, and cold war with Rushia, and China, I considered burying ammo, food, water, and tools, for the day when the SHTF. Today, I have concern for the liberals, chipping away at our rights to defend ourselves, and to the terriorists who are willing to kill their selves to kill us. So today my aim is to aquire the means to defend my self, even if our right is taken away, and to reload, my own ammo. All I need is a quanity of brass (1 becomes 10), powder, and primers (I can even reload primers if I have to). There is an almost infinite supply of lead (wheel weights) to make bullets over a camp fire. The tools I can fit in my pocket or pack. I am specializing in 7.62 nato, and 5.56mm. With my survival training, my goal would be to become very scarce to others till the dust settled. Me trying to get to the front line to shoot would be a mistake, as I'd just get in the way of our military. I hate that friendly fire stuff. Did you ever see the movie Red Dawn with patric swaizie?
I believe our real strength is if the 80 million gun owners, became 80 million votes, the politions would fear to be against us.
Just the ramblings of an idle mind.

I would think that most of us do vote. What are we doing wrong that things like the '94 ban get passed?
I was reading in another forum about the sunset of the AW ban, pipe dream or possible reality? I would really like to see it go as my most dangerous and heinous habit of "collecting, maintaining, and target shooting firearms OF SHEER TERROR!!!" is getting more expensive if I want to buy an "evil" i.e. preban rifle equipped as it was supposed to be.
And really, if some gangster is going to shoot someone or do a driveby and ditch the gun when they are done, are they going to do it with a $3500 H&K MP5 or a $200 cheapo 9mm?

Only about 60% vote in major elections, and less than 40% vote in local elections. This encludes liberals. Only about .01% have ever writen their congressmen on an issue. People AGAINST something tend to be more vocal than people FOR something. We don't have the right to vote on laws, only elect law makers, and to write them expressing our opinions on issues. They need to hear from 80 million gun toten voters. We can blame the politicions, but I think we are doing it to our selves.:( Just my 2 cents

Everyone I know has an opinion on what makes sense, whether it be new gun laws, better use of old laws or what have you. I get in arguments all the time about why I have the need to own 50 guns (as if even that is enough) or have thousands upon thousands of rounds of ammo. The point is there is an amendment to our great Constitution asking us, no begging us to bear arms for our freedom. Yes a lot has changed in 200 plus years, but the need to carry still exists. Dont you all agree? I dont know why people don't vote, they are not my problem, the real enemy around here are politicians who use gun carrying guards to protect themselves while the vote to limit my rights.

The second Ammendment was created to protect a free socitey from the zealots of government, you will see that if you read the words again.

A patriot namer Rosseau said " I do not agree with anything you say but I would die for you right to say it.

That is what this country was about not the egotistical people in office who call themselves patriots.:usa:

You also have to realize, the egotistical people who write the laws for us "the commoners" are themselves for the most part above those laws. Payoffs, No big deal. Kill someone when drunk, Mail in the fine. We are dealing with people who have their heads in the clouds running what goes on, on the ground.

If I am elected President, I promise one new gun law. That would be

All gun laws are null and void.

Carry on you shoulder, carry on your hip, carry in your crotch if you want.

Machine guns are OK too.

Vote for KC!

I live on the other coast, but he would have my full support!
If he can live in Kali, and not strangle half of the people he walks by day to day, he is a man of restraint and patience. Plus he likes guns what more can you ask in a president?
KC go for it!

Ivanimal and bugdrvr,
Thanks for the support. I've been divorced, and there was a black sheep brother. So I'm not eligible for the corruption in politics.

As much as I hate some of our politicians, they were elected to office. Even Gary Condit was elected. He didn't win the democrat candidacy this time around, thank God! But the good folks in Stanislaus county should've voted against him last election for his socialist politics, as well as for his sexcapades. They voted him in regardless, so that's not why he lost this time around. He lost because he didn't show a broken heart for his little tart.

The voting public doesn't know how to screen a candidate for good public service, or doesn't care about that.

I know how cynical this sounds, but I don't think anybody who would be a good politician ever wants to run for public office. The people who do run are mostly power mongers who place position and fame over all else. Who else wants to live in the spot light, have everything you've ever done under scrutiny, and rub elbows with...other politicians? Ick.

Personally, I think one thing that keeps people out of the running is a focus on politicians' personal lives. Most everyone has some skeleton in their closet, real or imagined, that they think will ruin them if it got out. Someone who had an affair 25 years ago, but would otherwise be the perfect candidate, will be at the mercy of the media. It might be a quick jab, like Dubya's alcohol use (which are obviously in his past and don't affect his ability to be president now), or a long drawn out ordeal like Gore's Internet invention statements (which was twisting his words).

Perhaps a media focusing on a candidates ability, or lack thereof, to do the job instead of finding out who he has bred would be of more use to the voting public.

Cajungeo,
That website is awesome!

It's one of my bookmarks, now. To be forwarded to all my friends. It's truly a work of art because of it's content and comparisons to Roman War rules and strategies. And I've probably only seen 10% so far.

Many mini-14 thanks,

KC

Cajungeo, to the question "How many guns do you own?". Which answer do you like better?

A. Two for the wife. Nine for me. Anybody got a used 20 gauge semi-auto sport shotgun for sale?

B. More than ten

C. Eleven and I'd really like to try that Barrett .50 Cal

D. Not enough. On our next vacation, we're spending a week at Front Sight, Nevada.

I'd like to hear any of the above from a politician. B doesn't have as much punch though.

Hey Kali - Have you ever been to FS? I've been 3 times and it rocks!!
What class are you taking? I've done 2 practical rifles and a hunters rifle.
Next up is a 2 day handgun and 4 day rifle.
