Boy, thats a beautiful rifle. But before ya all think of doing this........check out the price of 17 cal ammo........wow. I went to two dealers that have 17 cal rifles in stock. Course they did not have any ammo to sell. What the heck good is a gun without ammo......hummm...second thought, if it looks like that one....could just be a wall hanger for a bit.....

Don't you just use the same magazine as the 22 mag. takes??

Its strange, they have guns, and barrels to sell, but no ammo. You are right it is more than double the cost of a 22 mag. I had to check, even though the .17HMR is a bottle neck, boattail, the case is the same size as the 22 mag. Clark says use the same mag as the 22 mag.http://clarkcustomguns.com/faq17hmr.htm

Tempting... very tempting.... but I don't think I'll be going that route. The cost is just getting out of hand. For starters I'd have to buy a 10/22 mag, which is expensive enough, than the conversion kit and then to top it off, the ammo costs 10.99 per 50 rounds for the Hornady, 15.99 for the Remingtons (Cabelas prices). Might as well go with a .223 and get some real range out of your rifle. Looks pretty though.

I had to go back and read your post. I thought that rifle was your rifle.

TGG........I agree. Will stick to my 10/22LR and for the real distance stick to my two 223's. But as cajungeo and I have talked going to still try and get that 10/22 to shoot 100 yards. (paper shooting of course) just for the fun of it.

Hummm...lets see.........aim 42 inches high, wind.......2 feet to the left..........shoot...............walla..............missed the whole damn target...........bummer. Oh well, the bull eyes on the target was only a 8" circle............
