I just bought one of these from Brownells & when I put the heat shield in the forearm along with the metal mag well guide -the Mini would not fit into the stock. The stock is not cut out enough! I know what I'm doing because I've taken Minis apart for YEARS!!! Anyone else have this problem with the clark stock?

Sorry to hear about your stock woe's Dogman. I guess it was a "finished" stock? I bought 2 Fajen laminated "unfinished" stocks for my 10/22's. As expected the inletting had to be finished on both before the receiver/barrel would fit properly. Taking my time, sanding, and using the dremmel, both fit very well.

If you decide to do this just a reminder to reseal the wood with true oil, or other finish to keep moisture out. The laminate stocks are beautiful, as the wood grain is enhanced. Good luck.

Thats whats referred to as a "semi inletted" stock--a do it yourself project. These have been known to take alot of "finishing". Poss you could return it. The good thing is if you overdo some bedding you can glass bed it for final fit (which you would probably do anyhow). Good Luck.....:beer:Still toasting those troops doing Risky Business!!

Dog - I have been eyeing the Clark stock -
Other than the less-than-satisfactory fit - how does it look?
My concern is the drop in the comb. Is it agreeable to iron sight use? or is higer for a scope? Have you put it together w/out the liner and looked through the sight scope -
I would appreciate the feedback.

The stock is sold as a DROP IN-Finished stock. I don't know why this isn't true... The stock is gorgeous-Black Laminate. Looks great with my new DRC Shilen Muzzle weighted barrel & the Leupold Tactical 4.5-14x. The comb height is great for me. It's a great stock. I wanted a MPI Tactical stock..but I refuse to pay $375.00+ for a Mini14 stock.!!

Well- Y'all had me a thinking..so I called Clark Guns & talked to Jim Clark(Son) & he told me that the stock is a DROP IN & requires no inletting. He told me that someone missed a step in the making process & to send it back & they will fix it FREE OF CHARGE. I told him I bought it at Brownells & he tod me"Its our product & I'll make it right" ....Ya gotta love that! Good Buisnessman ship!
