just started to reload for my mini -14 .223 iknow they say it is best to use magnum primers because they are thicker , but you can only get what you can get right now ,i got some CCI 400 small rifle primers and remington 6 1/2 small rifle primers, some say the cups are to thin ,causing slamfire from the floating firing pin of the mini -14. will use h-322 for powder , any body used these two primers and have slam fires or other problems ?

if your load data doesnt call for a magnum primer you dont need one. Magnum primers are typically HOTTER, not thicker than regular primers. ARSENAL primers are designed to be thicker, however.
some reloaders claim its better to use a magnum primer with ball powder for better ignition and a regular one for stick powder... YMMV, ETC... some say potato some say potahto. <shrug>
