If you're a California based gunowner and you do not make yourself heard NOW, the bills at the link below could well become law. They may anyway, but at least if you politely call or email your California state reps and senators you will have tried to preserve your rights.

16 Bills are up for hearing! | California Rifle and Pistol Association

Among other things is a ban on all self loading rifles with detachable magazines. Yes, that includes the mini 14 which is one reason I'm posting this here. Read the content at the link above - the sheer amount of "bad" coming your way is pretty remarkable.

So if you want to keep what's left of your 2A rights in Kali, get on the horn and politely but resolutely make yourself heard. And if the bastards do take what's left of your rights, make sure you vote against 'em at every stage of the game, including primaries.

Best,
Grumpy
PS Sorry there's so little notice on this - I'm recovering from an injury and I'm limiting my keyboard time, so it slipped past.

I oppose these bills (except the lead hunting restrictions, I'm far too young to not want environmental reforms) but please explain what makes these people communists. Or socialists. Or why that is a negative. It makes them oligarchical totalitarian dictators.

The lead "issue" is a red herring used to raise the cost of ammo beyond the means of ordinary mortals. Bioavailability of lead in rifle bullets is pretty close to zero as far as my information goes. Not that it can't be measured (modern analytical chem techniques are super sensitive), just that to the best of my knowledge there's no documented plumbism and/or mortality of animal life due to second hand exposure to lead (i.e. from the carcass of a harvested animal) in the real world.

Bluntly its a non-problem and a lot of good evidence about animal life being seriously affected by lead would be required for a legitimate call to ban lead hunting ammo.

Best,
Grumpy
PS Even Bill Clinton's lead ban on waterfowl is not terribly well supported by science either; IMHO it needs to be reversed so we can all go back to lead shot again.

A lead projectile fired into a wilderness of thousands of acres, is like a drop of boric acid in the sea...it doesn't amount to a damn thing.

If the ecotards want to get behind something, how about they pressure their glorious Dem leaders to propose restrictions and sanctions against any nation with a Pacific coast that doesn't control the trash they dump into the ocean. The Pacific garbage patch is a problem, lead fired from a gun isn't.

The bill has been written for years. They were waiting for the right time to introduce it. Since it appears the feds are not going to get it done your pretty but arrogant Attorney General wants to have her way with you. You will not enjoy it. kwg

None of this is really about gun control, the environment, communists, socialiasts, dictators,etc. It is really about the people of this Nation reaching a point that they are willing to sacrifice freedom for the illusion of "safety". They do not realize that true freedom comes at a dear price. We all die sooner or later. It is how we conduct our lives in the interim that is important. Sadly, many of our fellow citizens are operatimg under the illusion that somehow they will remain cared for if they surrender their constitutional rights which really represent the rights endowed by our creator. They fail to realize they are making a deal with the devil. They will lose both their freedoms and be less safe in the bargain. What few men are left need to man the line. Read this:

Saint Crispin's Day Speech
from Henry V by William Shakespeare

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This day is called the feast of Crispian:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian:'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
And say 'These wounds I had on Crispin's day.'
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names.
Familiar in his mouth as household words
Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

That's two of us. Found the link this morning at calguns and my blood pressure went through the roof after not too long a time of watching the BS.....

You are not kidding. Its like a bad accident on the freeway... You know no good can come of looking at it.. but you have to.

I watched Yee present his closing argument on the bullet button by going on a rant about mag magnets... a product not only not even covered in his bill but a product that is already very sketchy legally on its own.

I love my state but I truly hate Sacramento. The fact that the idiot voters of my state gave the libtards a super majority really pisses me off. We are drowning in illegal aliens, mass debt, high unemployment, and the state employee unions are sucking us dry. Yet the idiots in Sacramento find it necessary to worry about gun control.

The future for California looks bleak and unfortunately its my daughters that will suffer the most.

Thanks Mr. Shakespeare

Why subject your family to suffering? Leave and don't look back. This Titanic is sinking and its too late to do anything about it. Save yourself and those you love. Best wishes.

I'm seriously thinking about moving back to Texas. These "progressives" are the worst.

To boot, they're absolute hypocrites. They passed a law allowing themselves to get concealed carry permits without any requirements, while it's nearly impossible for a productive, law abiding citizen to get one. This clearly shows what this pond scum thinks of their worth versus that of their constituents.

The GOP is just as ****ed for different reasons. Vote third party! Our country deserves better than the two branches of the Corporate Party.

That pretty well sums it up. I write and call my Senator and Assembly representative but to no avail. They're not listening. For the first time in more than 30 years, I'm seriously considering getting out. :(

Hi bluzman;

I left Illinois years back and never regretted the change. Nearly as I can tell, Kali is even worse off than Illinois so I don't think you will regret it if you decide to leave. The only things I miss in Illinois are my few remaining friends who are stuck there and some of the old times I had there 30 years ago - but the nostalgia wears thin when you see everything that's going on there today.

Good luck and all the best,
Grumpy
