So here's one -
The recent California magazine law:
I though it only prohibited the sales, transfers and importation of magzines >10 rds.
A lot of guys on the forum are talking like its illegal to POSSES magazines >10 rounds.
Which is it?

Possession is legal.

Transfer, sale, etc. is illegal.

Since none of my rifles are registered as assault weapons, possession would be illegal for me. So both answers are right, depending on your situation. Overnight, thousands of KA gunowners were put in jeopardy of becoming felons. Thanks Kalifornia, home to the New World Order.

Having a firearm that is a registered assault weapon is NOT a prerequisite for owning a hi cap magazine!

Hi caps are available for Mini-14's, and lots of handguns.

Read the laws, understand the laws, and be safe.

We are talking about separate laws here. The assault weapon ban made the sale, transfer, importation and much of the usage of the guns on a specific list illegal. It also required that owners register themselves and their guns with the state for future confiscation and prosecution. If one owned a banned gun, the state Gestapo graciously allowed you to keep it... for the time being. Eventually, of course, they will decide otherwise and the guns will be confiscated.

The other law deals with magazines. Again, any mags already in the state were, well, hard to locate and legislate. So, they banned all future sales, transfers, and importation. Of course, how do the state Storm Troopers know when a particular mag was imported into the state? They don't. So this law is very hard to enforce. All they can really do is prohibit dealers and retailers from offering hi-cap mags for sale.

There's an old saying. "As goes California, so goes the nation." Well, CA is certainly in the forefront on denying law-abiding citizens their civil rights, and they sure are leading us down the slippery slope of socialism, so maybe it will also be the place where the revolution starts.
