I have a mini 14 ranch and would like to replace the barrel and have some action work done. I've looked at ARS, Clarke and a few others...... my main question is in regards to switchin to 6mm or another caliber. I know that 223 is a good one, and ammo is cheap and easy to find however I wouldn't mind handloading for a caliver with a little more punch and accuracy to it. Anybody have any experiences doing this?

I've read many of the post on accurizing the mini's, any new updates or info would be great. Also, if recommendations/warnings about gunsmith's doing work like this would be great. thanks

I have a mini-30 rebarreled to 6mmPPC by ars and love it, shoots great. only complaint is brass is pricey. you could get around that by having one of the 6mm's based on the 223 case. they can be made to shoot well, just in the case of the mini, it is specialized work and doesn't come cheap.
