Cabela's Magazines?

I am sure NOTPARS will either praise or damn them when he gets them in his AAR to us-I called up Cabela's a while ago now that I remember it, and they did state that they were Triple K mfg.,and that they stood behind them to work even after firing with them. I then recall some thread either here or on AR15.com with someone getting them from Midway and then complaining and sending them back for exchange (I believe?). I do not recall what ultimately happened but with my bad experience with USA garbage (which is where they ended up-I wouldn't even sell them to my worst enemy), I decided not to chance it.

Thanks for the information. It wasn't what I hoped to read but you may have saved me a bunch more headaches. I already ordered the mags so I'll give them a try and see what happens. I guess I can send them back. Cheaper than Dirt has mags fairly cheap. Some are nickel plated and I believe they are USA mags. Run about $15 or $20 a piece. Do you have any advice on Cheaper than Dirt mags?

I was wondering what you mean by a "GB" model? I bought a mini-14, stainless, at Gemco in California back in 1983. It has the polished stainless not the matt finish. The wood is also far superior in color and so forth compared to what they come with now. It is not the ranch model. I also have a super mini on order from ARS.

Thanks for the post. I don't know if I'll praise them or not. I hope its praise. But I learned one thing though, before I buy anymore accessories, I am checking with you all first! Cabela's rep told me they guarantee them to function, they should all work fine, and they will take them back. Now, if they don't work, what does that say about their "guarantee?" Anyway I sure appreciate the advice you all have given. When I do get them, and test them, I will be sure to let you know. Should be in the Middle to late part of May.

The only cheap mags I bought was from CDNN. 2- 20rds, and 2- 30 rds. For 9.99, and 12.99. They are Western. I'm not recommeding them, for all the negative posts I've read here, but If I leave 2 rounds out of each. They work in my 196 series mini. Maby I was just lucky. I figured at 9.99 I wouldn't loose much. My 30 rd PMI's are about 3/8" longer so there is more room for the spring.

CDNN investments has been on a few FFL dealers' blacklist, and I was not surprised to see them mentioned here at all.
NOTPARS, you say middle of May, is Cabela's backordered on these? In any case, let us know what happens, and if you have access to another mini or a friend with one, you can always test them out on more than just one gun, for comparison purposes.

mikr, I was refering to the Western mags not CDNN. The order I got from them was prompt, and what I ordered.

Here is what I can tell you for now. The mags were backordered but I have already received two plus the two I sent to my dad. The mags don't want to lock in place with the bolt closed. With the bolt back, they fit fine. My dad called to say that there is a little too much metal in the back which won't allow them to lock in place and the bolt to slide over the top. He is going to try grinding it down a little at a time to see if this will work. If successful, I am going to have him work on mine as well. My last college class is next week. Anytime after that I will be able to try these mags at the range.

NOTPARS, grinding, cutting, or just plain whacking the mags with a sledgehammer might void their return warranty.

Like I may have said, the professor hands out books only by Marxists and feminists and the class turned out to be a "women's studies" class...the evil white male if you get my drift. Anyway, when I "play the game" my grade on each paper (there are no tests) goes up and when I critique the book they go down down. The last feminist book tried to use the Bible to support her claims. But she took so much out of context and or misidentified the source, I couldn't let it pass. Too bad because this is her favorite book by her her favorite author. The other students said they were going to slant their work to the professor's point of view for a grade. Anyway, got some shootin to do when I am done!!!

I just bought a 20 rd and a 30rd from Cabelas - both triple K. The ones I got suck. Tried bending the lips slightly which helped, but still totally unreliable. They will go back

I've got several 10 rd mags from USA and all work about 98%. Once in a while I get a cartridge that doesn't slide all the way out of the mag.

You may have lip problems. That is given. Buy yourself some Wolf springs for your mags. to try them out . I have USA mags that were lousey with fac. springs. I put Wolf Springs in them and they worked without any problems. I did have to bend the feed lips on the mags for proper feeding, but I don't blame that on the springs. Good luck and good shooting.

Where and what may I ask are you studying? I'm in the same boat. I'm a married homeowner working and going to school FT. 12 hours away from a BS in Information Systems and an AS in Website Administration from MSSC in Joplin. MSSC, I might add, has been blessed with a relatively low occurrance of liberals in the faculty. Or maybe I've spent too much time in the School of Business side of the campus.
