The butt plate on my 10/22 stock is slick plastic. That never seemed like a problem until last weekend's Appleseed shoot. Now I realize it's an advantage to have the butt end of the stock firmly "stuck" to my shoulder in seated and prone positions. The chicken wing makes a good pocket that holds the stock firm while standing, but I noticed it sliding too much when shooting from other positions. What's the best way to give that slick plastic butt plate some adhesion?

A 1 inch wide strip of skateboard tape down the middle of the buttplate should do it.
Spray-on truck bedliner is also cheap and easy to apply.
You could also be brave and stipple the buttplate with a soldering iron, similar to what many people do to their Glock frames. There are quite a few tutorials on youtube. Might want to practice on some scrap first, but it would be a permanent mod with no worries about peeling off.
