It's probably got a US-made, non-chrome-lined barrel. Consider that the most affordable and plentiful 5.45 is corrosive. Do you know any further details beyond price and Bulgarian origin? Is it a Century? That's not necessarily bad; there are much worse in fact.

Bulgarian AK-74 Review - Survival Forum SHTF Survivalist Blog

The author of the article said he paid around $400 for his rifle, a case of 5.45mm and 3 magazines.

Have prices gone up in the past few months or something to put your rifle at $450 without the case of ammo?
Hmm, I have not seen any in my area for less than $450 with 2 mags and no ammo. Of course the gun market is strange at times. Although it isn't a Bulgarian AK74 I have seen used Saiga's in stock form for $500+ in one shop and go down the road a ways and see one new in the box for under $400. Same way on ammo, I have purchased Federal and American Eagle brass ammo for less than I have seen Wolf steel cased and PMC brass at some dealers. Deals happen, but sometimes you have to be patient and look for them.
