Rugster: Aloha! I'm no gunsmith but Ruger seems to be right. First check to make sure that the clamp at the end of the had guard was slid all the way back - this could impead the operation.
I'm surprized that Ruger suggested that you tighten the four hex bolts on the gas block. Because, these are done at the factory, set at a torgue specifications. Ruger has those specifications.
Just hope you don't have a crack gas block, if you do you'd have to purchase one through Ruger.
