I would really like to use a beta mag in my AC556. I don't think any feed towers were ever made for this.

However, I think a feed tower can be made out of a PMI 20 round magazine. It would not violate any laws, because the magazine as modified could still be used in the gun it was intended for. Has anyone heard of a successful modification to use beta mags in an AC556 or a mini 14?

Did you ever contact Beta-c ? I agree that they probably never made one for Ruger,at least,I've never heard of one. But,Ruger was and is very popular with law enforcement,so they might have made a feed tower for one. In any event,You're just gonna make a whole new tower and not butcher the one thats on it,I assume.So I don't think you could hurt anything because you're modifying the clip to fit the rest of the mag.

cronic1080 is right on the BATF rule. It's legal to take 2 Pre Ban mags that are for the same Firearm like 2 - 30 round 7.62 AK mags and make 1- 50 round mag out of the 2. You can't take a post ban 10 and pre ban 30 and make a 40 or anything else. A good source for BATF rulings is Small Arms Review magazine in a colume written by James Bardwell & Basil St. Clair
