Shoot one round and clean for at least 10 rounds. Then 5 and clean for twenty rounds. Make sure you use all brass jags, brushed, etc. I have read about brass picking up carbon and scoring barrels and I guess if you neglect cleaning until you get carbon build up you deserve whatever happens to your firearm. I don't know about fire-lapping other than Remington advised against fire-lapping my Model 700 R5 barreled bolt gun.
