A number of years ago I had an opportunity to store a friends BM-59 in my gun safe for several weeks. It was a beautiful piece of machinery. Now I think I would like to have one. Where would I look for one? Are there any sources? I know there are more than a couple of models, I'm a haver/shooter not a collector so any suggestions?

They are out there in limited numbers, you just have to hunt them down. Be ready to part with some big dollars though. I have never seen, just a shooters grade. Most are in excellent condition a command top dollar. From 2k to over 4k (early folders) Good Luck! Regards LTS

Resse Surplus still has new BM59 guns for sale. They do have a web site and are part of Springfield Armoury.

Mine didn't come from Reese Surplus, but it is a great shooter. The only problem I had was finding enough magazines. It looks like Reese Surplus has some now for about $69.95 or so. BM-59 magazines are heavy, well made units, so after paying $40 plus for new M-14 magazines, $70 for these doesn't seem quite so bad.

Fortunately, you can open up an M-14 stripper clip guide a little and it will fit BM-59 magazines, and the stripper slot on BM-59s accept GI stripper clips, so you can operate with fewer magazines and use bandoleers to carry most of your spare ammo.
