I accidentally posted this in the gallery. I will try to remove it. if I can't please take it out moderators.

Hi folks. As I wait impatiently for Christmas, I keep reading everything i get my hands on about this stock. One thing keeps showing up in vague, no pictures form and I wonder if anybody with the stock can please clarify it for me. I downloaded the user manual and didn't see it in there either.

There is occasional mention of a 1/4" shim to raise the butt stock for use with large objective scopes. That's what one website calls it in their sales info. Another forum mentions it without regard to scope, but in reference to the pistol grip alignment. Can anybody elaborate on this or show me a picture of it installed or otherwise? I have the ATI stock on my wife's 10/22 and am aware of the 6 degree angle adapter, if that's what they are talking about but it doesn't seem to fit the description in these sources. I am just trying to streamline my own installlation time by being familiar with all the possibilities.

Thanks.

God Bless!

Ron

It's a useful feature - as none of the M4 type buttstock conversion stocks have a proper cheek/optic alignment for most folks if they use the stock #5 ruger rings... let alone the B square side mount.

with a cheek riser optimized for your optic mounting choice, and your own physiology - you can get on target much faster, and be assured your sight is aligned without fussing around trying to find the right place to put your face to get the right sight picture.

My mini 30 in it's Ruger polymer stock has a Karsten adjustable cheek piece,
as does my Savage 110 .270

My troy MCS mini has a 1/4" magpul riser clipped into the magpul CTR buttstock on it. (one of the reasons I went with the CTR by the way)

But there's some other piece that goes in the folding joint. or maybe the older versions have it and the newer ones don't...it has a different set of holes to raise the whole buttstock or something..i haven't been able to find a manual that writes about it, but i found a picture of the area with no text to explain it. I guees it's not a big deal. Thanks for the reply. i am looking forward to the feature you showed..this is what I need to get a cheek weld.

God Bless!

I have the ati and the part you are talking about is a plastic shim that will set on top the butt stock and under the cheek rest, the only point to this part is to keep the cheek rest from sliding down when pressure is used on the cheek rest. ;)

Also takes the guess work out of lining up the rest with the scope.
