are all muzzle brakes created equal? ive seen quite a few from many different places, but they all seem to have the same design. do they all fucntion the same/are of the same quality?click here for a pic
That muzzlebreak is the one that sellfor $19.95 at Cheaper than dirt, and is called the double muzzlebreak. For the price it's great, and is also the one most people are using. I have seenothers for upto $50., But why? Look at the Gallery and you'll see this one the most.
The front part of that muzzle brake looks suspiciously like a flashhider. I am concerned with legality of owning such a contraption in locality where one is outlawed.
A short word of advice: Check with your local laws about what does and does not define a flashhider. It can be marketed as whatever they want to call it. The fact remains that if it is legally a flashhider (whether it actually functions as one or not) then you're the one liable.
I have that brake. The front at a glance looks like a flash hider, but if you look at the bottom there are no slots. It functions as a muzzle brake, venting gasses upward, and out the sides only to reduce recoil, and muzzle flip. Sold in Calif, and everywhere else.
Commonly cuts group size in half at 100 yds.
There are others. They may be as good or not, unless someone else has tried em?
