Well, I should have brought out a new AR spring but I forgot in my rush to open up the range. Instead I took one of my freshest rebuilt AR mags and took the spring out (chrome silicon) and replaced it in a factory Ruger 30 rounder.
Seated 30 rounds ok in it (I did not try loading more), and the first round chambered had to be assisted-I've never had that happen before. And then almost like clockwork I would get one round to fire and cycle ok, and then the next round would fail to feed. Pull the "charging handle" back just a bit, let go, the bolt slams home, a round cycles ok once more, and then another FTF. Just about regularly.
Ammo was LC brass, Fed 205M, 25.3gr. Vihtavuori N133, with a Hornady 55gr FMJBT to top it off. Produces about 3150fps, and not a problem in any rifle or mag I have tested. It wasn't the ammo.
I figure I'll try a new 20 and 30 AR spring in a Ruger 20 and 30 respectivley, and try it one more time. Wolff springs are a bit pricey when I get reliable AR chrome silicons for $4 per or less sometimes.
