I am thinking about geting an AR-180b, Armalite brought back the old design and it uses Ar-15 mags. Anybody try one out yet or own one. Let me know what you think.

I've not seen one at this time. The only concern I would have is the "formed sheet metal" upper and the "polymer" lower. Their durability would be the question.

I had the chance to handle one at a local gun shop. A very light weight weapon, seemed pretty solid. I think the formed metal reciever will hold together well. I wasn't really that interested in the gun till I held it. Now I have to add it to my "Guns to Buy" list. Honestly if someone was considering buying an AR carbine, this one would be a good alternative for less money in general. Actaully its seems quite a bit lighter than a normal AR, I think if I had to carry it around I take the AR180.

I also had a chance to handle (and literality destroy) an AR-180b. I am sure it is the one that your speaking of. The side charging handles style. The one thing that I did notice was the metal covering the top (formed sheet metal upper ) of the weapon. Seemed to be a little light to me. Also I suppose to be legal it had the flash hider/ suppressor as part of the barrel. Looked like it was a continues piece of the barrel. The other parts looked pretty good. Think I would still go for the regular AR if it were affordable. Just my .000002 cents worth

I've only seen a few at shows around here priced at $650.00. Never seen one at the range yet. If one could be had for $450.00-500.00 I might bite. 650.00 is a little to much though. A dealer told me his price on that new KEL-TEC 223 rifle was going to be 360.00 and he planed on peddling them for 440.00-450.00. I think they'll be a few new pieces out this year. The new Beretta CX4 STORM carbine looks interesting also.
