German Guy,

I have a Richards Microfit stock made from that same laminate as shown, Tigerwood. My stock is for a 10/22, although in this case it is a Magnum, and the stock style is an "Old Classic".

I went with the Tigerwood as it reminded me of the laminated maple/walnut stocks from the 50's and 60's, when I was a kid drooling over the Herter's catalog. It looks as good up close as in the photos.

Do NOT be discouraged when it first arrives. Their stocks are not rough (much better in fact than when I first bought from them about 8 years ago), but the difference in color can put you off a bit. It really needs a finish coat to look true to the photos.

I have an Imperial blank coming from them, black, gray and red. Got it for a bargain price because of some paper work probs on their part. That would be my only caution with them, make sure you send them a written order that is crystal clear, as phone orders have not always worked out well for me.

The Imperial blank is going to go on a left hand Mini-Mauser .223 IF the current import bans are lifted and Charles Daly (the importers...hopefully) can manage to get some in the country.

I intend to use a Tigerwood blank again in the future, but have yet to decide on which rifle. So far, I have 4 rifles with laminated stocks, Brown/Brown, Electric Blue, Royal Camoflauge, and of course the Tigerwood. Each is a delight, and folks really are impressed with any of them. I am sure you will be too.

Gee Otony, that sounds like quite a collection. Do you think you could post a picture of your 10/22? I'm sure everybody on here would appreciate it. And speaking of drooling, my wife keeps catching me drooling over the picture above...
Richard's Microfit is located in Sun Valley. That's only about an hour drive from my house. Wonder if they'd let me swing by and have a look at their work... you know.... to make me drool a little more...

I can post a pic of the 10/22 Magnum, but it will be awhile. I don't have a digital camera yet (I keep spending my money on guns!), but I can take regular photos and have 'em developed onto a disc.

Need to do the 10/22 anyway, as I have no photos of it. It just won't be real soon. Then someone will have to hold my hand while I try to post it, but I will get it done.

I bought a Green Mountain Running Boar barrel for the 10/22, 22" long SS. It has the factory taper, but the last 4" swells back out to create muzzle weight. Looks racy, handles quick, and is different.

Topside there is just a silver Weaver R4 in the Ruger rings, a pretty sharp little scope for the money, but I am wishing for a bit more power. Might go with one of the Bushnell/Tasco 2.5-10x. I have the Tasco 2.5-10x on my Air Arms S400K, and it works a treat, so I am glad that Bushnell picked up this scope from the Tasco line. AO and mildots, all for a VERY reasonable price.

Internally, there is a buffer, Power steel firing pin, automatic bolt release, and trick Volquartsen extractor. Also a home fab trigger job.

I call it my do-all, as it does well in most categories. Hunting, plinking, informal target shooting, heck, it would even make a pretty slick defense rifle within reason.

Hey Otony!

I just noticed you're from the Bay Area too! I live in the East Bay. If you need any help with pics, I've got a digital camera. Maybe we can meet up at some time at a shooting range and I'll take some pics for you. Or something like that.

Oh, by the way. Have you done the bedding on your 10/22 yet? Really improved my groups. A bit. :D

Better go get some work done now...

Working on the bedding as we speak, um, write.

I just bought a cheapie digi camera over the internet, so I might have that end figured out soon enough!

Yeah, maybe we can meet at Chabot one of these days, I like to go over there every so often, plus I have a nice lady friend in town, so its a two bird trip.:D

By the way, Sun Valley is NOT Sunnyvale. You have more of a 6 or 7 hour trip to get over to Richards Microfit, they are in La-la land if I am not mistaken, mebbe even further south than that!
