Not yet! Been wanting to tackle it someday though. There are some very informative sites on the web that take you through it step by step!

Do NOT, repeat, do NOT try to drill or ream thru the threaded "tower" on one of the drill jigs being sold. It WILL ruin the threads. KT Sovereign is talking about offering the lowers with the spots for the cross pins "dimpled", so that you dont need a drill jig. I suggested that he only drill holes in the 4 corners of the mag well, and bore out the hole in the tower for the buttstock. Getting that buttstock hole out of place or crooked ruins the gun. Once it's bored, threading it correctly only requires a vise and a drill press. the hole in the casting is NOT often located properly. Just making it larger is not all that's needed. It's a lot easier to drill a row of holes in the mag well, and hacksaw out the chunk of metal, and dremel and file the mag well to shape, and less critical as well. You have to leave SOME major work on the receiver undone, or ATF wont let you sell it as only 80% finished (ie, mail orderable, like all the OTHER parts for a gun.)

KT had some pictures posted of his AR15, AR10 80% lowers. They had the dimples and looked to be of very high quality. I always like looking at the stuff guys are putting together at the Home Gunsmithing Forums. There's some real sharp minded guys over there. Thats a sweet looking 50 cal. upper that goes on an AR15 lower the one fellow built, side feed box and all. VERY Impressive! http://www.ultrmag50.com/ :cannon:
