I'm looking at the tactical version with night sights. It is all steel and has a hammer forged barrel, 18 round mag, double stack, decocker. I'm a member of a gun club/ffl and I looking at a fairly attractive price if I get it.

I have shot my old 9 to death. The gun smith told me I was several thousand rounds over the life span expected from my old gun. I am sadly going to have to retire it.

My old one and the only other 9 I've owned is a Taurus Pt 92 AF. The 9 mil rating and reviews keep rating this gun in the top 10 but mine has never been a top 10. I don't think this gun has ever run quite right. From the very beginning when it was brand new it would not break down. The slide jammed and would not come off the frame. I sent it back to Taurus and when they returned it, it had strike marks on the frame like where somebody had bashed the slide off with a hammer. I shot it a bit and sent it back in again complaining of accuracy problems and it shot way off to the right. They put a couple rounds in a piece of paper at 5 yards and called it good. It has slowly and progressively gotten worse until it won't shoot a group at all now at 10 yards even if I shoot it from a bench rest.

My local gun smith used to be a Taurus regional dealer in South Africa and he refused to even work on it. Taurus won't fix it so I quit.

Still no joy on the CZ from my gun shop which gives me a decent discount since I am a member.

I found one somewhere out there but I am content to wait for my own place. They have multiple upchains or suppliers to work with but the CZ 75 sp-01's are not making it across the ocean right now for some reason. My particular model is a service weapon too so all those people get first crack at them.

I've got a CZ P01, and love it. If you don't absolutely have to have something bigger, check it out. Ergos are great. Passed the extensive NATO certification testing. The only thing about CZ pistols is that the slide is inside the frame, so there is less to grab on to. If your hands are arthritic, you may want to check it out in person, before buying.

I finally found a gun shop up in South Dakota or somewhere that sells lots of CZ 75's. I had them do an FFL transfer for me on the SP 01 tactical. That was a few months back now. I totally am in some kind of a romantic entanglement with this weapon, LOL. It is a really good shooter. I got a very nice retention holster for it too.

I have an SP-01. Stock, racking the slide was not easy, even after break-in. Turns out CZ puts in an 18 or 19 pound recoil spring. I only shoot standard factory ammo in various weights, no overpressured ammo, so I bought a couple of lighter springs, 11 and 13 pounds. Both cycle the firearm properly with no hang-ups, FTFs, et cetera, and have no issues with subsonic rounds with my suppressor. Much easier to rack the slide! :)

I have a CZ SP01 Tactical with a threaded barrel. It's DA/SA. I ordered a suppressor about 17 months ago and just learned I was finally "approved" for the damned tax stamp. Love the pistol, hope I will love it more with the suppressor attached. CZs seem to be very well made pistols, and shoot easy with I think less muzzle flip than polymer pistols.

Great Pistols

I have a CZ75 Compact PCR. I really like the de-cocker function as it makes the pistol easier for my wife to just pick up and shoot at need, and it shoots very well.

SP01's are excellent. With some Cajun Gun Works trigger world, you're like 85% of the way to a Shadow. Only week points are the slide stops which seem to break around the 35k-40k range and trigger return springs which break around 30k. Just swap the TRS with a Cajun Gun Works aftermarket version, and buy a couple of spare slide stops... Replace those around 20-25k and you're golden.

Just curious... What kind of round count did you have on your old 9mm?
