I was looking a while back for an aftermarket stock for an M or D or Sporter, anyone find anything good or what are you using? I would like to find something without having a giant hole because the stock is so universal. I am currently getting an OE replacement stock , but was thinking of having something else when I want to take it out for other than range time shooting. Something that might get a little abuse and not ruin an OE style stock. Trying to be able to return back from Bubba to more of a Purist rifle for, resale the safe and/or the range.:blink:Does any of that make sense?
Thanks for you help in advance.

Parts gun or franken-gun.

I never seen one for the AK mag models. Whats wrong with what you have?
I got a project in a box with a stock that was all but destroyed as it was forgotten in a garage. :( trying to make the rest of it a real shooter and a decent weapon, all is fine, but the stock is less than good. Not really wanting to glue a stock completely back together. Acra glas a spot or two sure but.....
I would really like a Timbersmith but.....HELP!

There are a few good options for you, but it depends on your desired cosmetics and usage profile...

If you're looking to keep the rifle largely looking original, there are dozens of Monte-carlo style rifle stocks out there. Less traditional offerings include the ATI Dragunov sick, which is not too expensive but high quality. it is however longer and actually heavier than the original wood.

"Tactical" options are a bit more open... ProMag is coming out with an ak-style stock which would suit your particular model nicely. the tapco interfuse is also a good option. they will however not solve the problem of the sks being particularly long and front-heavy.

You may want to look into the Shernic gun works bullpup kit. It's pretty well-recommended by those who own it, and fits almost every model out there. it makes your rifle look like the imi Tavor carbine and is , imho, the best cosmetic adaptation for our rifle on the market. Shernic Gun Works I think.

I have a Choate ambidextrous stock on mine. Properly fitted, it will greatly improve the accuracy.
