1450 fps. The 6" .44 mag has taken every animal that walks, and did so rather handily, too. The steel jacketed Norma, 240 gr sp, was the ammo of choice, for use on big animals. Poke a .5" hole thru both lungs, and they die, in just a minute or so, sometimes much less.
I had Hensley and Gibbs make me up a 230 gr version of their #68 swc mold, normally 200 grs. Cast hard, and heat treated, it penetrates superbly at 1400 fps.
