Do you guys know if you can buy 7 Round Mags for the Mini 14? And if so where abouts?

Would like to know as New Zealand law says for a semi auto a 7 round mad is as big as you can get.

How about a 10 rounder permanently blocked to 7 round capacity? A 10 rounder doesn't really look like a high-cap magazine, i guess it would dependon the NZ police interpretation of the law. Maybe a dealer could import a bunch of 10s and do the conversion there?

I'm pretty sure you can only get 5's, and then 10's and so on.

I've never heard of a 7 rd mag for the mini, only 5 or 10, 20, etc.

Like Yossarian said if a 10 rd mag. could be blocked off for example a wooden dowel just under the base plate? I would check with a gun smith for ideas. There are some states over here where you have to have a plug in a shot gun to limit shots to 3 rnds. This isn't perminant, but it must be in the gun when hunting. If caught without it your toast.

BTW I'm moving this thread to the magazine section.

Get together with other NZ Mini owners and do a group purchase from ProMag. Nice mags, and I'll bet they'd install a block if you ordered a reasonable minimum and paid a small additional fee. That way it would be sold as a 7-rd, so you'd be covered legally. Other than that, I'l learn to live with Ruger 5-rounders.
