My sig shows what I have - I believe it's the newest Mini-14 barrel design (16" long, thicker forward of the gas block).

I'd like to use an older-style handguard (Choate or similar), though.

Is my barrel the same diameter where the handguard springclip is as the older Mini-14's (so older handguards will snap on securely)?

I don't know if it's the same diameter as the older models, but the Choate and Federal Ordnance handguards fit perfectly.
