The best advice I can give to you about the .308 bushing, is to obtain a copy of Jerry Kuhnhausen's book "The U.S. .30 Caliber Gas Operated Service Rifles A Shop Manual. He mentions on page 182-183 3 things to keep in mind. 1 this concept was devised by the US Government, (and Government agencies do whatever they want without liability), 2 bushing installiation changes headspace, and 3 unliss bushings are pressure formed into a groved chamber, or chill/interference fit, most will come out. If the bushing ever does get extracted and ejected with a fired round, the next 7.62 round chambered will be in a chamber intended for a 30-06 cartridge. I would suggest having the rifle rebarreled with a barrel intended for 7.62mm. Also read up on the difference between 7.62mm, and the 308 Win.
