Hello all,

I was wondering what kind of experience members have had using tracer rounds, particularly if they have used them in their mini 14s? Anything special this newbie should know? Thanks!

I have a mini 30 but for what it's worth my only notable expierience with tracer rounds is that they fall considerably short of your zero after using regular rounds. so, serious hold-over is neccessary. they're expensive suckers so I space them out in the clip - one every other round. they're fun, but unless your in some kind of night time fire fight - which chances are you won't be - given that they're pretty much a waste - fun for a while though. fun to shoot up in the air like fireworks.

When I was in the Marine Corp, I probably fired thousands. We fire 1 in 5 for night fire. You set up 30 guys with interlocking grazing fire about 18" high. Nothing living can get thru. The gas they burn will easily start fires in dry areas. (A real touchy subject now days). You can't see em in day time. At night you can see the bullet drop arc, and ocasionally richoet. Be very carful with them!
