I have an old Essex frame with a slightly overworked feed ramp that has been sitting here for years and years and years, and thought I might make some use of it. A .22 conversion kit sounds like a good plan to me... not efficient or cost-effective, obviously, but "good"....
. I do have one question though. Does a conversion kit (for example, a Kimber) utilize the feed ramp at all? I would expect that it doesn't, and the cartridge just slides almost straight forward from the magazine into the chamber, but not having had one in my hands, I don't know that for sure.
