I have an "old style" 10/22. Would there be any problems shooting steel cases 22LR?

Not sure I have ever seen steel case .22LR. Is it Russian surplus?

Have two Ruger 10/22 Rifles a #113 series Made in 1974 & a #124 Series Made in 1984 never seen any .22LR round that these guns would not function with. the 10/22 is the AK of the .22 rifle world they go bang every time you pull the trigger and are dead nutts reliable if using factory mags.

I've never fired any steel-cased .22LR. But, like cavtrpr340 and Yoteman, I've never had an issue with my 10/22 being finicky about ammo.

I'm wondering that, myself. Those casings are nickel-plated brass, though.

I've heard people talk about .22LR that really is steel-cased -- like old Russian (or Chinese?) ammo, but I've never seen it in person.

As COBrien states, it's nickel plated brass. The only steel I've ever heard of and certainly not seen or used is older Russian stuff and not sure it's even around today.
It would help to know what the OP is describing as "steel".

An old friend of mine claims that his old 1022 has had over 50,000 rnds. through it with no ammo issues. I seriously doubt that any saami spec ammo would be a problem in this fine carbine.

I had one I traded for a pistol after I refinished it that had estimated 20k rounds of Win SuperX no apparent bore wear wish I had kept it. it was just broken in good.

I have used that CIL ammo before in older 10/22 from the mid to late 1980s.

I used several boxes and not one single issue
