I've shot a lot of critters with a lot of load in 9mm and .45, and believe me, the best 9mm loads beat 230 gr .45 jhp's badly. Bill Jordan, in his book NO SECOND PLACE WINNER opined that a swc 9mm would be a better manstopper than .45 ball. I'm not impressed with any of the factory jhp's except the CorBon PowRball variant. they are going fast enough to actually expand reliably in flesh, out of 4" barrels, the rest are not, typically. 1200 fps is very marginal for jhp expansion in a 9mm or 357 (in flesh) what happens in water, mud, wet paper, boards or jello is irrelevant.
