I had an early wood handguard I out on a 183 series Mini. Would a wood handguard with the "C" spring clip on the underside (not 180 series type with little clips for lateral grooves in the barrel) fit on a 583 series with the stepped barrel? I really like the wood. Very M1 carbine-ish!

I bought this mini 14 new in 1977. Does anyone else have n like this? It was made in Southport, CT and in another post someone said these are more rare. It also has the inscription "MADE IN THE 200th YEAR OF AMERICAN LIBERTY" on it.
