In reading a number of posts it appears that you all like either the XM193 55 gr. bullet or the M855 62 gr. bullet. I think the XM 193 bullet is what I want to use, BUT
I see that Federal American Eagle offers the XM 193 bullet in a loaded round that sells for $.48 a round at Midway. That seems...
I built myself an AR-15 to use for predator control. Coyotes and other "pest" have been killing my chickens.
This is the build I came up with:
Palmetto State Armory Freedom upper receiver. Instead of chrome lined the Freedom series barrels have a melonite finish. Twist is 1:7. 16 inch...
Anyone here have first hand experience with palmetto state armory?
I am looking at buying this upper
PSA 14.7'' Hammer-forged, Mid-length, Light Profile Upper - 14.5" - Barreled Upper Assemblies - AR-15
Barrel length 14.7"
Hammer Forged Barrel
Machine Gun Steel

I am using factory ammunition from Silver State Armory (about 90 rounds so far) in my 6.8 SPC Mini-14 and note that SSA uses US Mil Spec primers in all their ammunition - which includes 5.56 NATO and 6.8 SPC. SSA indicates that rifles firing their ammo should have a 4.5 Lb hammer spring...
From this page, which rifle and why?
AR15-M16 Rifles-D S Arms
Please, lets keep the cost at around $1,000 or less.
The rifles I am looking at are the:
I would like something with a flattop.
My other options are a S&W M&P, or maybe even a Spikes.
If you know of...
Scottsdale Gun Club touts the LMT as very reliable, but it sells for $ 1249. Aim.com sells the Spikes Tactical for $ 770. I'd like to buy from a bricks and mortar dealer so I can get quick service on any issues, but the price difference is an issue.
Guys and gals this is a little article I threw together, and I would like your opinion on it.
This article is some of my opinions on the AK-47, AR-15 and the FN/FAL rifles.
Lets start from the very beginning:
Inserting a magazine
AK-47 uses a cam style magazine, where the magazine has to be...
Stunned by .233 to 5.56….
I see a lot of postings about the difference in dimensions and pressures for .223 and 5.56 but not about
how different they shoot…….read on…..
I shot about 80 rounds of PMC 55gr FMJ .223 at 100 yards with a 4X scope and a bi-pod and sand bags.
Pattern was within...
Take a look at Ruger's latest piston offering dubbed the SR-556CLA. The "C" is for carbine and the "LA" is for light adaptive rail.
This one's very similar to the SR-556C with the differences being the forend itself and the way the forend is attached to the barrel. The CLA uses two large...
I've been shooting my SR556C rather regularly in the year or so I've owned it and just reached the 5,000 round mark. Most of this has been on semi- but I have fired several hundred rounds of this on a select fire lower. In all this time, the gun has been accurate and reliable with the only...
He's no threat to you after taking a 223 hit to the chest at such a distance. he was almost certainly no threat to you before you shot him, you see, so the additional debilitation of the 223 guarantees that he can't hit you back at such a distance, nor can he run 1/2 mile and maybe get good...
I have a problem with my Mini 14.
When I load it up with .223 (Sellier & Bellot) it shoots just fine. I haven't tried wolf.
When I load it up with 5.56x45mm NATO it shoots fine except sometimes that some cases gets a punctured percussion cap.
I don't know if I traslated it right but there...
Youtube and the net in general have been scrubbed on all info about the lethality of the 5.56.
The massive cavitation the 5.56 causes and the hyperstatic shock and tissue damage the 5.56 causes on the cellular level.
Seems big brother does not want the people to be well armed at all, and...
Found this reasonably priced ammo on Widener's web-site.
Comment on web site.
Looks like new packaging to us. 5.56 M193 55gr FMJBT. Lake City brass, sealed and crimped primers, Tar sealant at case mouth, Brass, boxer, non corrrosive.
Is this ammo OK for the MINI...
Natchez has boxes of new factory loaded 5.56 American Eagle ammo for $299.95. 1000 Rounds per big box.
Not exactly match, but if you want a bunch of plinking or back up ammo, that is some of the cheapest I've seen factory 55 grn 5.56 in a long time.

Bought a Mini 14 Tactical. The one with the 16 inch long 1 in 9 twist barrel.
Which RCBS die is recommended. Small base, regular base. I'm confused. I've never loaded rifle bullets and there seem to be more decisions than with handgun bullets.
Any other pointers regarding loading .223 is...
