I am going boar hunting and want to use my sks. I have to load it with a stripperclip and want to get a scope for it that will not interfear with loading my rifle.Does anyone have any suggestions for one.

Tech sights rear with a thin front post will be accurate enough for most people.

Otherwise, there are a few dust cover mounts available that get mixed results (probably good enough for 0-150 yard hunting accuracy), but a drill/tap mount is generally considered the best. Then there is also a couple scout mounts that replace the front sight, which work pretty well with pistol/IER scopes... Of course, then you say goodbye to irons.

Brass stacker is supposed to be coming out with a SKS mount soon... and if it is anything like their Mosin scout scope, we can expect (or at least hope) for a see through scout mount (fingers crossed!).

also have a mini-14 ,do you think it has enough stoping power to take a hog at 150 yrds ?

Of course it does and then some, just ask the AR guys .223 rules the world.

Skip the scope option on your SKS you will save aggravation and money.

The tech-sights mentioned above are on my SKS with the .047 front post. If you can see it, you can hit it without the frustration and delicacy of those cute glass things

I used these and they are great.

Tech Sights are the way to go on the SKS, too many compromises inherent in scope mounting.
Mini-14 is GTG on hogs with the Nosler 60gr Partition or the W-W 64gr softpoint. Winchester also just came out with specific .223 hog loads.

Did you go yet and what did you use? What did you do about your scope or sights?

I had a similar issue finding the balance then I cam across the predator mount and now have a full length 4x12 redfield on my Yugo which is assume. However I do use a red dot on my para when deer hunting in the brush in Missouri and if works great. I guess it just depends where I am going to hunt and what the terrain is like. I can shoot my yugo out to 200 yards very accurately and dial down the scope for the woods (I guess it going to the deer woods this fall). Oh my uncle has a burris red dot on his mini 14 that he really likes and it didn't cost an arm and a leg.

Look at the sight mount/rail system at ScoutScopes.com. Best idea I have seen for the SKS if you want a scope or Tac. sight. If you want a scope you can use a model for hi powered pistols and the scope will be ahead of the chamber/mag area. Supposed to be able to hold sight zero after disassembly for cleaning and maint.
