This is going to sound silly, especially when I have used stripper clips for more years than I care to acknowledge. However, I can't seem to find a ten round stripper clip that works in the SKS. Everyone I have tried has been just about worthless. The rounds bind up as you attempt to charge the rifle. I can load by hand twice as fast! What are you guys doing or using to make these things work?

European or Chinese? The blued/black Europeans I had (Russian and Yugo) were more difficult for me to strip into the magazine than the gray Chinese ones, which were pretty slick with both steel and brass cased ammo. I suspect the gray Chinese are phosphated/parkerized. Unfortunately I gave away all my Chinese before I found out about the Russki.

Maybe a spray of dry lube would help.

The last ones I had were blued/black. The rounds seem to bind at the curve. If I open the side rails up enough to make things work. Then the rounds fall out every time I pick one up. The little spring on each end doesn't work to well for holding the rounds in when you open up the rails.

I have hundreds of both the Chinese gray and the European blue/black. The latter are easier to load ammo on, but neither are all that easy for me to load into my SKSs. As such, I use mostly Tapco mags.

the inside of the strippers are usually pretty rough I use a bench grinder and wire brush to heavy buff the inside edges and inside of the stripper clips,then use and old steel or brass case to test for smoothness. Working the case back and forth will smooth the edges out even more.

When loading with strippers put a little forward pressure on the back of the stripper with your free thumb,take your other thumb place it as close to the back of the casing and agents the stripper clip as possible and press down firmly,some stripper load easier by wiggling your loading thumb back and forth slightly as your pressing down.

I've found no matter what flavor stripper clips are in use, pushing the rounds down "with authority" works better than "with hesitation". You want to get some inertia up.

I have found that with any stripper clip that if I grab the top round by curling my index and middle finger under the bullet end lifting slightly and then push down with my thumb on the cartridge base next to the stripper clip it works quite well. It has also been suggested that rubbing the inside of the clip with paraffin will slick them up a bit. YMMV.

Thats why I like the mannlicher clips like carcanos and the Garand clips.the parkerizing is ruff so may be wax would help.or Lyman case sizing spray.
