sure sounds like a .308 AR 10 - the price range is a little light....
try Eagle Arms a division of Armalite....

You really painted yourself into a corner there, I'm not sure that there is anything available like that in your budget. An M1 Garrand , M-14 or FN-FAL might work, but none are available for that little amount of money. If it was, I'd like to have one too.

Keep your eyes open and shop around. I got a DPMS LR-308C with match trigger, quad rail, compensator and the open-fixed stock for $800. It is a "Shot Show" rifle (one that was on display during this year's Shot Show), thus is "used", I don't care for that much of a price break.
In other words, they are out there, but not easy to find. By this point, I would save my nickels and dimes and wait for next year.

What about one of those Century CETME/HK-91 clones? It's either that or a used and unwanted M1A Standard IMO.

I gave up on the .308, and got me a PSL. It was cheaper and the ammo is a ton cheaper!

As long as DC doesn't mess with ammo imports...stack it high and deep!
