I guess that I am a bit of a purest. I m not into CAS but when I am on my tractor in the back acres I usually have my Winchester 1892, 38-40 rifle in a scabbard or I may have my Ruger Blackhawk, also in 38-40 in a shoulder holster. My loads are full power with 175 grain cast. I plan to try some 180 Rainer plated bullets in these. I have some of these I got for 10mm auto loads in either the Ruger or my Glock M20.
I had two or three Marlin 30/30s. I now have a Marlin .308 Hornady Express rifle. I love it. Use it to deer hunt the last two years have shot 4 or 5 deer with it and it drops them. Shoots only a a Hornady 160 grain bullet. Muzzle vel. is 2660. Would recommend it to anyone.
In 1982, I had a Marlin 357. Loved the gun. At the time, I cast and reloaded. Then, not long after. I moved up to 44 mag and sold the lever.
I have several 44 mag revolvers and a few 357 revolvers when I decided last month to buy a lever. So for 2-3 months, looked for decent USED one as new is out of my budget.
Found a 1993 Winchester 94AE large loop 44 REAL inexpensive (At least I think less than 300 for a 94 AE that only had 5-6 rounds thru it, inexpensive.
I am now looking for a Super black hawk in 44
To be honest, IF ia had went with 45LC in the first place (as a reloader) I would be happier. But make NO mistake. I would NOT hesitate to take a 160-200 pond white tail (in PA, LOL) or a Mulie out to 100 yards. with the 44mag. And a charging Black Bear, Heaven Forbid, wouldn't scare me until the 9th round had been fired. And I'm DAMNED good at firing while running backward. Learned how to do that in my 1.5 tours in Vietnam, especially late March, 1972. LOL.
But a good RIFLE loaded 45LC would be better.
My set up is a Marlin 1894s and a 7 1/2" ruger super blackhawk both in stainless. The super blackhawk is so to be shortend to 5 1/2" for better packin. Great combo for just about anything from deer and hog, to plinkin or even self defense.
I got a Marlin fg and I'm buying a SS Redhawk off a guy.Both 41mag. and yes I reload.
The .41 Mag is kind of an orphan caliber . Would be $$$ if you did not reload .
Do you also cast your bullets ? I have found my lever guns like Round Nose Lead or Round Nose Flat Point bullets . The wheel guns do not much care . :-)
I have an 1894 Marlin in .44 Mag, along with a 629 Smith and Ruger Vaquero in that caliber. I load pretty stout for the rifle, but those rounds are not unmanageable in the Smith. The Vaquero's another story though.......often painful to get through 6 rounds. I think I'll hunt-down a set of Pachmayer Presentation grips for it. They tamed my heavy loads in the .357 Blackhawk pretty well, even though the rubber stinks my hand-up.

Nice guns all.
I have the same Marlin and a 8-3/8" M29 . Load to about 50% to 75 % .
