I got good results with a Timney drop in. No muss, no fuss, just an excellent, crisp single stage trigger, just like a bolt gun. I will get another one in 3# next.

I have been thinking about getting a Giessle drop in trigger, what are your thoughts about it?

I have 2 RRA 2-stage triggers. I think it's all that's needed and you can't bet the price.

Naturally I have a RRA trigger, in my RRA.
I happen to LOVE my trigger, there isn't anything I would change

I actually got to play with a couple of them at the Zombie shoot. Very nice for a two stage trigger. They had three different types there. The match one was light. Personally, I'm not a big fan of two stage triggers, but these were very nice.

I have the giessle DMR trigger. I have experienced incredible customer service from the owner of that company. After a so called gunsmith screwed the trigger up Giessel refurbed it to like new for free (inluding return shipping). The trigger itself is a cut above a RR NM trigger however it costs alot more. I have become brand loyal to this company because of the fact that when I had a problem I called and reached the guy that made the trigger and put his name on it and he stood by that trigger without question. If your on a budget a RR will do the job well. If you want the best get a giessel.

I haven't tried a Timney trigger, but I keep reading/hearing really good reviews about them.

Myself, I use the following:
* Chip McCormick match-grade (single-stage)
* Rock River Arms (RRA) National Match 2-stage

Frankly, BOTH triggers are great!

IMHO, the RRA 2-stage trigger is probably the best for the money. And, with a just a little Dremel work, you can even make it a tad smoother.

In fact, during my father's most recent AR-15 rifle build, I did a little "polishing" work on his RRA 2-stage trigger...just the pertinent contact surfaces. Not much at all, but enough to make a difference. It turned out very nicely.

Finally, if you don't have the extra cash to put in a "better" trigger, you can actually polish the contact surfaces of the standard trigger group. Now, of course, it's NOT going to give you a "match" trigger, but it does smooth things out slightly. Again, it won't be a match trigger...don't fool 'yerself...but it does help to make a smoother pull.

One point about maintaining polished triggers...make sure you keep them protected with a good metal penetrant / protectant. This will make sure they don't rust. There are many out there, but I like Gibbs Brand...good stuff!

I used a polishing compound on my DPMS trigger set. The grittiness is gone, and the trigger pull is a lot lighter, but it's still pretty long. I can almost use a ruler to measure it

Yep, some light polishing of the trigger group definitely makes some improvement to the overall "smoothness".

You're exactly right; it takes out the grittiness and lightens the pull.

You gotta luv that Dremel tool...

Cheers,
