Fate Of Dems' Majority Rests On Job Growth

"Historically, midterm elections are about the party in power, not the party that's out of office," Cook says. "And it's generally a time when people vent spleens."

"If that pattern holds up, then the fact that people don't really like Republicans and that Republicans don't have a whole lot to say is irrelevant. People are going to be voting against Democrats," he says. (emphasis mine. I wonder what his source is...

I think the Prez and the progressive dems in congress are losing their base-liberals & progressives are starting to complain a lot, drop out of the activist scene, become selfish, cheat on their taxes, and avoid voting--in other words, become classic republicans. So there are not going to be many coattails or influence on voters from the nationals offices. Local elections will be settled as usual on height, weight, physiognomy, and personality, enhanced with adverstising paid for with special interest money, with just a bit of rhetoric thrown in--except where there is a significant passionate minority (right-wing Christians, tea-party types, chambers of commerce, builders associatio, teachers union, other union) willing to put their money where their mouths are and where they are willing to campaign. CC and builders association are actually pumping large amounts of money into "non-partisan" races for judges and county councils here.

Oh, now that was a cheap shot! Becoming more like typical lazy American voters, maybe...plenty of Democrats in that group. Most voters need an issue to focus on. During a campaign, candidates refer to that as mud and start flinging it like monkey poop.

Might've been one I was involved in. I keep getting a mental picture of a monkey flinging crap at someone. Might be a visual metaphor for when I can't come up with the right words or something...

The dems are gonna have to do alot more than address jobs, they will have to reverse the current coarse they're on, in other words, be pro-American instead of so anti-American.

An American born president wouldn't hurt em either.

So you think we're a bunch a poo flingers huh, we're not amused.
